About the Fundraising Committee
The Mission of the fundraising committee is to generate money to support Glenview
PTA’s Mission Statement, in a manner that is consistent with the PTA’s Mission
Statement.
We aim to raise money through outreach events, campaigns and grants from
school, neighborhood, state, federal, and business communities and entities.

and more. Our basic PTA budget
operates at about $110 per student,
but we welcome contributions at
every level, so give what you can.

GARDENING AND LANDSCAPING GRANTS
$2500 California Instructional School Garden Program Grant
Science teacher Sue Morgan prepared the application for this grant which
complements a school's academic program and creates opportunities for children to
learn to make healthier food choices, participate more successfully in their
educational experiences, and develop a better understanding of food origins. The
grant can be used for purchasing garden equipment, fencing, supplies, and/or
professional development.
$5000 Lowe's Toolbox for Education award
In January 2008, Glenview was awarded this grant to establish "reading gardens" or
shade spots for students to read in the upper and lower rear play yards, a vision of
our Principal, Ms. Atkins.
$10,000 East Bay Community Foundation Learning in the Garden award
We have been selected to build an edibles teaching garden in the lower rear yard in
08-09, and to develop instructional time with several teachers, as the grant allows us
to hire a 1.5 day/week Teaching Garden Coordinator.
Volunteers are needed to help implement these gardening and landscaping projects;

A new grant application is pending to support front yard native plants landscaping at
the Hampel Avenue entrance. The Garden Committee needs volunteer helpers for
reconditioning this area immediately--contact Joelle Nadle by email: joelle.
